Principles of our Spanish Curriculum

At Chieveley, we have built our own Spanish curriculum, which runs through all our classes. Our curriculum is designed with the following principles in mind:
 

• Quality, familiar texts (eg The Very Hungry Caterpillar) so children are able to focus on the language, not the story
• A focus on games and talk to get children learning in an active way
• One target sentence per unit (Or call and response) for simple self-assessment and teacher assessment
• Cross-curricular - lots of chances for art, drama and games to help engage children
