Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
At Chieveley School we have a limited number of children who are eligible to receive the Pupil Premium. We first and foremost ensure all our children first receive good quality classroom teaching, with high expectations and challenging targets. We then carefully considered the needs of the children receiving the Pupil Premium as a group and as individuals and the barriers to learning they encounter. We also cross referenced this with our ‘normal’ extra and SEN provision and the impact that had before allocating this money.
Last financial year we spent this money on a range of resources and activities.
Developing a specific programme to support children who attended Language and Literacy (LAL) special support programmes within West Berkshire, or need LAL type support.
We have also supported out of hours activities designed to develop resilience and the whole child, for example meeting the whole cost of residential trips and for music lessons.
During the current year we plan to continue such provision.
